I first discovered Dina’s art a few months ago, when searching for a special piece for one of my clients. I was blown away by her collection. So many choices of beautiful, and affordable, original artwork. Dina will repaint any of the pieces you see in her Etsy shop, or she can create an original painting for your home. Let me tell you friends, there is nothing as special as an original piece of art.

I asked Dina if she would share her art story with me and here’s what she had to say:

“I don't have an official story of the art, but I will say that it all started after my loving mom passed away in 2014. (My family is extremely close; she was the pillar of my family.) I usually journal to unload my thoughts and feelings, but I couldn't after she was gone. Not even for the thank you cards for those attending the funeral. So, I picked up her palette, her acrylic tubes of paint, purchased canvas/more brushes, went to a park and started painting. Created (9) paintings in one sitting. My Mom had a crochet shop on Etsy that I managed. I pulled her crochet items down, because I wanted them all - and replaced them with my art. They sold…and fast! I painted more that week, and that's how my little shop was born. Each creation has my Mom in mind…with all of my thoughts, love and being.

My intent is to make art that stirs the soul and connects us not only to the human experience, but also to what lies beyond our sight. My creative process is about relationship/connection…to the beauty of the world, but also to my soul, my spirit, and God. My process is completely organic and spontaneous ~ what emerges on the canvas is an internal language that is highly emotional and very personal, yet universal at the same time... speaking of places unseen ~ like closed eyes. My inspiration builds from the coming together of color and contrast…my work is alive with emotion through the movement of the brushwork and the luscious layered colors. Much like memories, each painting is filled with layer upon layer of paint, building a rich history into each piece. My heart is on full and pours over as I create…each painting with its own pathway; its own purpose.”

Such beautiful words, from the soul of a true artist.

Here are some of my favorites from Dina’s shop…

I have a deep love for abstract art. I also have a deep love for traditional homes. I think the two make a magical combination, which is why I have quite a few abstract pieces in my home. I ordered the black and white piece above for my bedroom. Can’t wait for it to arrive! I’m saving a spot for it on my nightstand, because you already know how I feel about art on a nightstand.

Love the modern touch that it brings to my trad style bedroom.

That’s all for this week friends! If you’ve got some blank walls in your home, explore Dina’s shop for that perfect piece, or have her create something one-of-a kind, just for you. It will get you one step closer to a home you love.

Wishing you a beautiful, and healthy, week ahead.
