An Unexpected Kitchen Reno: Part 3

If you follow my blog then you’re aware that we’ve had a kitchen reno happening for quite some time, since October to be exact. The initial goal was to be finished by Thanksgiving but that ship sailed very quickly. Then the goal became Christmas Eve. The good news is, we made it! Mostly.

Unfortunately we’re not quite finished, so I’ll call this the “soft opening” stage. Here’s a video I took of our new kitchen on Christmas morning. It was such a delight to wake up to, I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas gift.

What’s not finished? Great question. The day our countertops were installed the fabrication company left us with a big surprise…a major stain on our fresh slab of marble.

The good news is, I’ve done a pretty good job of ignoring it. The better news is, we had the surface honed which removed a good bit of the stain. A poultice was applied after the honing which lifted even more. We’ll continue to work on it until it’s no longer visible.

Once the stain is gone and we have our buffet cabinet in, I’ll do a full on reveal with lots of photos and linked sources. I’m hoping to get it professionally photographed sometime in the early spring. Meanwhile I’ll be working on the final touches in my home office, along with a large canvas painting that has taken me much more time than I bargained for. Of course I’ll share those projects as soon as they come to life.

Thanks for following along on this journey. I know there’s been a long gap, but trust me I’m pedaling like crazy behind the scenes. Blogging is a true joy, but a lot to keep up with while holding down a full time teaching job, styling for clients, art sourcing, and painting. My weekends have been filled with all the things, which means I’ve had to put this blog on the back burner for a while. And I’m trying to be okay with that.

Please know that I’ve truly appreciated your support and encouragement along the way. Your comments and questions are what brought me back here today, and for that I’m really grateful.

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead.
