If you know me, in any capacity, you know that I love flowers.  I’m obsessed really.  And since July is my birthday month, I thought it was the perfect time to introduce you to the art of Gabriela Ibarra!  Her paintings are whimsical, delightful, and bursting with energy.  They would look amazing in a little girl’s room, or just as perfect, in your grown-up home office…

Here’s a little background on Gabriela from Art in Motion:

“Growing up in Florida with aspirations of becoming an artist, Gabriela Ibarra earned her degree in Fine Art from the University of Florida. While studying a variety of disciplines, including drawing, ceramics, printmaking and photography, she soon found her true passion to be painting.

Gabriela now focuses her creative efforts on the exploration of form, texture and color in her characteristically bold still life paintings. The intensity of Gabriela's colors is a treat for those who appreciate fine art with a decorative flair. Rich in color, her brilliant paintings embody impressionistic style with a unique contemporary interpretation of subject matter.”

Here’s what Gabriela said in a Q&A with Common Creativ ATL: “I’m inspired by music, by the energy I can get from listening to the perfect track (depending on my mood of course) and lyrics. I relate to the poetic honesty of words in a song and I appropriate a lot of them as background texture or titles. I’m also really inspired when I discover art that makes me laugh or think. Good music and clever art have the same powerful effect on me.”

You can currently purchase Gabriela’s gorgeous prints from Artfully Walls, or One Kings Lane.

So good, right?!

I asked Gabriela if she has any advice for those who are new at collecting art, and are not sure where to begin.  Here’s what she suggested: “Start small and preferably local. There are so many makers right under your nose that have websites just waiting to be ‘discovered.’ You don’t even have to leave the comfort of your couch to find art. I am always so happy to be found online by a new admirer/buyer.”

I agree one hundred percent. There are so many amazing places to buy art online now. Which wasn’t the case 10 years ago! Minted, Saatchi ArtEtsy, Artfully Walls, The Black Art Depot, Chairish, and Artsy are all excellent places to start. These sites have thousands of beautiful pieces waiting to be discovered.

That’s all for this week friends. Why not buy a new piece of art for your living room?! It will get you one step closer to a home you love!

Wishing you all a beautiful, and healthy, week ahead.
